Leading commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has recorded a 17pc increase in sales for the financial year ending March 31, 2015. The company sold 1,04,902 units in 2014-15 as compared to 89,337 units the previous year. The growth as accentuated by the Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV) segment which recorded a growth of 29pc for the year. This segment saw sales of 77,660 units in 2014-15 as compared to 60,342 units the previous year. Light commercial vehicles (LCV) segment of Ashok Leyland sale drop in sales by 6pc with sales coming down to 27,242 units as compared to 28,995 units in 2014-14.
As for the month of March 2015, the company recorded an overall growth of 24pc, selling 12,754 units (10,281 units). While the M&HCV segment recorded sales of 10,027 units (7718 units) with a whopping 30pc growth, the LCV segment recorded 2727 units (2563 units), a modest 6pc growth. For the commercial vehicle player this performance augers well as the sector had been witnessing a slump for the last couple of years.
